Has Santa Claus Been A Bad Boy? Don’t Forget the Background Check

Published by Nick Fishman

Tis the season to be jolly. . . and vigilant. As we break out the holiday decorations, rush for the latest Black Friday sale and pray for a white Christmas (as long as that white Christmas doesn’t delay our flight to Florida or Mexico), we need to remember that the holiday season can also be fraught with peril.

Every year malls, retailers, charities and other corporations hire Santa Clauses to spend time and take pictures children and the occasional adult. Unfortunately, that jolly rotund man in the red costume and beard may not be the saint he portends to be. Just check out some of these headlines.

All kidding aside, it is vitally important to conduct a background check on anyone who comes into contact with children, even if they happen to be Santa Claus or his elves. We recommend conducting a criminal background check in all counties where Santa has lived (including the North Pole) and a Sex Offender Registry at a minimum. For added protection, consider including a National Criminal Record Database search and a drug test.

And if he’s driving his sleigh, don’t forget an driver’s record search (sorry, I couldn’t resist).
